Fun Friday

  • Deborah

This week’s blogs have struck me as a little on the heavy side, so I decided to take a break from the Lord’s Prayer. Today I encourage you to do something fun for yourself.

Self-care can come in many forms. Here are some suggestions:

  • Meet a friend for lunch or a cup of tea.
  • Take the kids to the park and pretend you are one of them.
  • Walk the dog at your favorite spot rather than just around the neighborhood.
  • Sit by the fire and listen to music.
  • Take five—ten—fifteen minutes or more to read a book that has nothing to do with your work.
  • Treat yourself to a spa service.
  • Savor a piece of dark chocolate as it melts in your mouth,
  • Take a bubble bath.
  • Paint your nails.
  • Watch a silly movie.
  • Paint your nails while you watch a silly movie.
  • Doodle with no purpose in mind.
  • Color using sparkle, metallic, or neon gel pens.

This last one is new for me. I found it to be soothing while I was sitting with my uncle during his last days, I found it to be so much fun when I colored right alongside my granddaughters. I found it to be inspiring as I pushed my color choices in new directions.

Coloring books for adults can be found online or at any book store. I highly recommend them for self care therapy!

Whatever you choose, make it a Fun Friday by taking even a small amount of time, effort, or money to treat yourself.

Me? I’m going to play tourist with my hubby in our hometown. Date Day!
