It is the start of a new year. Now that we have looked back to all that God accomplished in 2022, it can be exciting to look forward to what He has in store for 2023. It can also be a little daunting in light of the big audacious dream and vision He has been showing you. Today we begin a process that leads to specific steps that will empower your vision and have you soaring into your big dream.
The Created For So Much More strategy of Dream Big, Work Small aligns with the old adage about eating elephants.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
It would be easy to jump ahead in this process, but I ask that you stick with me between one day and the next. Give God space and time to speak to you. Let Holy Spirit give you the so much more that He has for you.
Process began over the weekend when I asked you to consider the area of your life/dream that God is highlighting right now.
Sit awhile with your dream. Continue to ask the Lord to highlight areas. Take a fresh piece of paper and write them down. I hear so many artists say that they have forgotten how much they enjoy painting, because they hadn’t tended their gift. Maybe God wants to bring something to the forefront that has been on the back burner. Perhaps you see new areas that need to be explored and developed.
God is faithful to your purpose and your path to live it out. Rest, knowing that God will direct your thoughts.
- Is there a person you have been meaning to call or email?
- Is there an online course you have been interested in?
- Are there books to be read?
- Perhaps it is time to purchase supplies for a project?
- Is there an area you are pulled to, but have been neglecting?
There is always work that can be done as you press on in the race.
Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that or which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12
You might even put your dream in graphic form, where every area of your dream is a bubble of sorts. I call this style of brainstorming with God, cloudforming.
Just as clouds take on different shapes and colors from one moment to the next, so do the cloud formations that develop from dreaming with God. What the Lord gives you today may just be a stepping stone for tomorrow’s dream.
A lunch or a phone call could turn into a divine opportunity in the hands of the Lord. The responsibility is yours to set up the lunch or to make the phone call. You start by making a list.
Make a list of those areas that Holy Spirit is highlighting to you.
That’s all, just a list. Add to it as the day goes on and you think of something else.
You are at the starting line of the race that is your dream. You are in process of breaking the big audacious dream into bite size pieces so that you can work small and take the next right step.
