The God we serve is a triune God. He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: three persons. He is one God. We call this the Holy Trinity. Three distinct entities, but one God.
You are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). God created you with a mind, a body, and a spirit. You have three distinct entities, but are one person.
Just as God the Father, Jesus the Son, and Holy Spirit cannot be separated and automatically are in relationship with each other, your mind, body, and spirit cannot be separated and automatically relate to each other. They are your holy trinity of living here on earth.
What you think affects your spirit and your body. Your spiritual and physical well-being is intrinsically woven within your mental processes and the well-being of your mind. That is where mindfulness comes in.
In Monday’s blog (click here to read it), I gave you a number of definitions of mindfulness. For our purposes I submit the working definition of mindfulness that I have developed after researching this subject.
Mindfulness is the act of recognizing and shaping thoughts, words, and actions in order to live purposefully as who God created you to be.
Mindfulness of thought, word, and action is the first step to a renewed mind which as Paul tells us in Romans 12:2 transforms our lives.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Practice mindfulness to renew your mind.
Renew your mind to transform your mind, body, and spirit.
Align your thoughts to the promises of God. Affirm who God created you to be and what He created you to do. You will empower change in your personal holy trinity when you practice mindfulness.
Tomorrow I will share practical ways that you can implement mindfulness in your daily life.
