Over the past few weeks I have written about the power of our thoughts. Words make up our thoughts. Words have power in the same way that our thoughts have power. The apostle John shares this perspective in the book of Revelation.
In chapter 12 he describes the power of our testimony. When we put into words what the Lord has done for us, it brings victory and overcoming power.
“For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;” Revelation 12: 10b-11a
The word of your testimony has the power to overcome the accuser himself! Certainly Jesus overcame sin, death, and the power of the devil through His death and Resurrection. We bring Heaven’s power to earth with the words of our testimony. Pair your words of what God has done in your life with the power of the blood of the Lamb and you overcome anything the accuser throws at you.
Your words have power to defeat the enemy when you choose to say, “I forgive.” You become victorious when you say, “I love you.” You transform your day when you speak words of renewal over your life. You overcome trials and tribulations when you choose to give thanks and find moments of joy in the midst of your storms.
Later in the book of Revelation, John reminds us of the power of our words of testimony when he writes in Revelation 19:10, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” When you speak of the things Jesus has done for you, you prophesy over your life that He will continue to work miracles on your behalf.
Your words have power. Choose them wisely to triumph over the attacks of the enemy, to renew your mind, and to be transformed.
