When Forward Looks Backward

Saturday I launched The Soaring Series—a collaboration with Jerrica Snyder and her Reflections Collecton. It is a collection of shirts designed to inspire you forward in your journey in your God-given identity and purpose. In the weeks ahead I will post all of the shirts on my “Partner” page since a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts funds this ministry.

Today I feature the reflection tee shirt: SOAR. It is a reflection shirt because you see the word when you look at yourself in the mirror. It has soon become a favorite go-to shirt for me.

More than promoting the shirt however, Holy Spirit whispered in my ear, “What is backwards to the world is not to those who follow Me.”

You might feel that your life, your work, your way of doing business and family sometimes feels backwards to the way the world does life.

You are in good company.

Jesus literally turned the tables on Jewish tradition when He threw the money changers out of the Temple. (Matthew 21:12-17)

Jesus rewrote the Law of Moses when He said,

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

Jesus replaced how prayer was done when He gave His disciples the Lord’s Prayer and told them to “Pray, then, in this way.” (Matthew 6: 9-13)

Jesus flipped justice on its ear with the woman caught in adultery (John 8:3-11) and when He told His disciples to love their enemies. (Matthew 5:44)

Not only does this shirt remind you to SOAR with God as the person He created you to be. It is a reminder to follow where the Lord leads even if it looks backwards to the world.

Your path forward may indeed look backward to the world.

Keep moving forward!
