Recently we took a rather unexpected trip to New York City. As 2022 began I would not have imagined I would not only go to “The Big Apple” for Christmas Im New York, but I would see the shows we saw.
Sometimes God gives us gifts that we didn’t even know to ask for. That is how I felt when we went to see the Broadway musical Funny Girl. I fell in love with the movie when it was released in 1968. Never did I dream I would get a chance to see it live. I grew to appreciate the talent of Leah Michelle when she starred in the television series Glee in 2009. Never did I dream I would get a chance to see her live in the starring role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl.
At the end of the night and the end of the trip, I felt God had given me unexpected opportunity to cross several things off my “bucket list” that I didn’t even know were on the list.
God is able to do far more abundantly than what we can even ask or imagine.
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, Ephesians 3:20
This experience has caused me to stop and ponder. What else has the Lord done in my life in 2022 that I did not expect and was even more than I would have asked for?
In many ways this year has been particularly difficult for many I know. You may be one of those who have suffered loss, grief, separation, etc. Yet, even in the midst of trials and challenges, I know God has shed His light and given you unexpected “God moments.” It might not be as large as an unexpected trip to New York City to see a Broadway show. But I know those God moments are there.
Take the time to ponder the past year. Ask yourself where you have seen God’s unexpected power, provision, and Presence.
- Have you met a new “cheerleader” to encourage you on your journey?
- Have you heard God speak in a new way?
- Did you experience unexpected contentment or joy in the midst of grief or disappointment?
- Are you soaring freely in an area where you felt stuck?
God knows you. He meets you right where you are. You never know what lies behind the curtain of today. God may just have an enexpected blessing to reveal.
He is always at work to bring the “far more abundantly” into your life.
Whether you ask for it or not!
Thank You Lord!
