What It Takes

Before I move on from the idea of spiritually sowing and reaping I want to share one more tidbit I came across as I researched what it takes for a seed to sprout.

The germination of a seed depends on at least three things:

  • how deep the seed is planted,
  • how available water is,
  • and how conducive for sprouting the temperature is.

-First, if a seed is simply scattered on top of the ground, it can be eaten by birds or burnt by the sun. It must be planted in the dirt in order to germinate. Apply this spiritually by asking, “ How deeply rooted in the Lord am I and are my “seeds” of a vision?” “Have I spent time asking God for His vision and then given Him time to confirm His word and His timing?”

Second, a seed might be planted in the ground, but if it is not watered properly, it will not germinate. Jesus is your Living Water. Jesus is the Word made flesh. How washed in the Word are you and is your dream seed? Have you bathed your plan in prayer? Has God used scripture to confirm your direction?

Finally, if a seed is planted too early in the season, it might stay dormant because the temperature is too cold for it to germinate. Spiritually this is a question of timing. I often recommend that once God confirms a vision that a person wait while He confirms His timing. Premature sowing of a dream seed could be the reason you are not reaping a harvest.

As you consider the next right step to empower your God-given big audacious dream, take the time to consider these three elements of what it takes for a dream seed to germinate and grow. If you have missed a step, go back and take it now. Before you know it, God will bring your seed to germinate and grow.

Let me remind you, it is God’s job to cause your seed to grow.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
