Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. James 3:13
This verse has me thinking about we show other people on a daily basis.
When we see other people, we see their clothing as well as their countenance. What would happen if we think about putting on wisdom and understanding in the same manner that we select our clothing for the day? What would that look like?
The Amplified Version of this verse reads,
Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him by his good conduct show his [good] deeds with the gentleness and humility of true wisdom. Jams 3:13 AMP
It appears that wearing wisdom means conducting ourselves in such a way as to honor our faith in Jesus—good behavior or conduct.
Wearing wisdom also means conducting ourselves in such a way as to exhibit both gentleness and humility.
Speaking truth in love gently is wearing wisdom and understanding.
Showing empathy for another’s situation is wearing wisdom and understanding.
Listening and truly hearing another person is wearing wisdom and understanding.
So, I ask what are you wearing today?
