It’s not often that I feel a blog post I read is so good, I want to share it in its entirety. That is what I am doing however. This morning’s post by Seth Godin struck such a chord with me—as I prepare to host a number of conferences—I wanted to share it.
One of the strategies in Created For So Much More is “Take Risks”. Putting yourself on the hook to deliver content or product is one way you take a risk that often leads to God’s reward.
On the hook
It’s scary. That’s the point.
Pick a date certain. You’re on the hook.
Describe a particular type of client, or even choose one by name.
Be really clear about the change you seek to make.
Put your name on it.
Charge a fair price.
Assert that you’ve got something to say.
Know what you are doing and then act like it.
Avoid gimmicks and hustle.
These are all ways to put yourself on the hook. Is there any better place to be?
