Monday I defined grace as the empowering Presence of God enabling you to be who God created you to be and to do what God created you to do. Today I want to look at a very familiar passage with that definition in mind. Let’s look at what the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9
“And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”
It was when I applied the above definition of grace that this verse really came to life for me. Why does the Lord tell Paul that His grace is sufficient? It is because the empowering Presence of God is all that we need to face anything the world would throw at us.
Mary proclaimed in Luke 1:37, “For nothing will be impossible with God.” If nothing is impossible with God, and His grace is His empowering Presence, then nothing is impossible for us either. With God all things are possible.
God’s power is indeed perfected in our weakness because we no longer rely on our own strength, we rely on God, His grace, and His empowering Presence.
Amen and Amen!
