Steps to Soaring: Stay in the Word

  • Deborah

This past weekend I had the privilege to speak to a group of women in ministry leadership positions. The Lord led me to a teaching that was titled “From Grounded to Soaring.”

Like many who pour out in service to others, the group of women were dealing with weariness. Yet, scripture tells us the reward is ahead of us if we do not grow weary.

Galatians 6:9

“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”

It begs the question, “How can we keep from growing weary?”  The eagle saves energy when it soars effortlessly on the wind currents provided by God.

How can you soar effortlessly as you operate in the things God created you to do?

Over the next few days, I will share the suggestions—call them steps—that I shared with the group of ministry leaders.

Today’s is simple, but it is not always easy.

STAY IN THE WORD

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

He will be like a tree firmly planted by [a]streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.”
  Psalm 1:2-3

Delight yourself in the word of God (“the law of the Lord”) and you will not “grow weary.”

I am not talking about preparing for a teaching or study here. I am talking about opening your Bible on a daily basis to listen and hear what the Lord is saying to you through His word today.

Stay connected to God by staying in His word.

Set aside time each day. Open your Bible and read. Let Holy Spirit direct you to the chapters and verses that He wants you to read. You will be amazed how timely and how practical God’s word is.

Go ahead. Try it today.
