Scriptures to Live By

Yesterday I talked about the Ancient Paths that lead to spiritual wellness and talked about a few of the cobblestone habits and practices that make up that path. Today I want to expand on one of the cobblestones: staying mindful of what God’s word says.

We often talk about “Life Scriptures” These are scripture verses and passages that serve as a North Star for people. They are verses that light the path and keep you on the narrow way that leads to eternal life.

I’d like to offer a few examples of “Scriptures to Live By”

Jesus revealed one of His foundational beliefs in Matthew 22. This is indeed a passage to keep front and center in your mind on a daily basis.

He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37–40

Jesus as the Way through anything

Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

God is at work even when you can’t see Him.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

God will keep you in perfect peace when you keep your mind focused on Him.

Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace,
in peace because they trust in you.
  Isaiah 26:3

There is always something to be thankful for.

Rejoice always;  pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Allow the Spirit to lead you to live a life walking by the Spirit.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:25-26

This week the Lord has led me to simplicity of using Scripture to bind up the broken hearted, set the captives free, comfort those who mourn, and so much more. (Isaiah 61:1-3)

Let’s make a habit of pulling out our Bibles and reading God’s word when we are rejoicing or when we are in need of strength, comfort, or healing.

Anything you have need of, is found in Jesus. The Bible is how you discover all that He has for you.

So let’s get out our Bibles and read!
