Years ago, I partnered with another minister for a freedom appointment for a woman who was fearful of the supernatural. It was apparent early on that she did not trust us to pray extemporaneously—as led by Holy Spirit. I knew she was steeped in the Roman Catholic tradition so I followed Holy Spirit’s lead and asked if we could pray the Lord’s Prayer together. She said yes.
As we prayed, my eyes opened to the power of the prayer Jesus taught us to pray. It is complete in its ability to hit the mark for anything that may be going on in life. I have spoken it to myself in all kinds of situations from riding on the subway to trying to get back to sleep in the middle of the night. I have used it out loud with clients and have seen this prayer shatter bondages and bring freedom.
The Lord’s Prayer is a powerful tool to release so much more of God’s empowering Presence in your life, enabling you to be who He created you to be and to do what He created you to do.
I have heard that it takes less than 30 seconds to say The Lord’s Prayer. That’s not a lot of time for such a powerful prayer. It’s no wonder that Jesus told His disciples, “Pray, then, in this way.”
“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
‘Give us this day our daily bread.
‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’ Matthew 6: 9–13
Imagine what we could accomplish if we all prayed this powerful prayer.
Will you join me in a commitment to pray The Lord’s prayer at least once a day?
Over the next two weeks, I will be diving into the specific petitions and language of this amazing prayer. I pray that it will take you deeper in your understanding and passion for these words of Christ.
I commit. Adding it to my phone alerts now. 👌🏽
Thank you! Love you Girl!
