Overwhelmed and Under Equipped…But God

Overwhelmed and Under-equipped

God is stretching me this season. He has increased the group size of my zoom study of Created For So Much More to the point that I need to do things differently. I am doing more writing and preparation. I am recording the session. I am using break out rooms in zoom for the first time. Then I am doing the video editing and posting. All before starting the process over again for the next chapter.

In addition to that, He has asked me to host a conference in Nashville in April and has recently added a conference in June.

All of that in addition to the daily writing of this blog and the weekly newsletter.

All of that in addition to the admonition to find time for self care and relationships.

Just this morning I was feeling overwhelmed by what God is asking of me.

“How can I possibly do all that You ask, Lord?” I asked.

I was overwhelmed by my sense of inadequacy to answer the call. Stretching has a way of showing us where we have things to learn.

I was reminded of this passage in 1 John.

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.” 1 John 2:20

(Emphasis mine)

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.” 1 John 2:27 (Emphasis mine)

God’s anointing could also be considered the specific gifts and talents and call that He places within each of us.

I have often heard it said, “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.”

In times of stretching you may feel inadequate. Do not let the enemy keep you there. Instead, deny access to the spirit of inadequacy by speaking this paraphrase of the above verses out loud.

“I have been anointed by the Holy One and I know the truth of my calling. I will trust the Lord, the source of my anointing and the One who calls me. I will allow Holy Spirit—who abides in me—to teach me about all the things that I need to learn in order to fulfill my God given purpose.”

As it happens, I needed to make a one hour drive this morning. It gave me time to put on worship music, focus on the Lord, and remember the times He has equipped me and brought me to victory in past seasons of stretching.

When all else fails, Dear Ones, worship your Audience of One. The One who created you, calls you, and walks with you.

Rely on Him to order your steps and walk with you every step of the way.

In the end you will find that you can accomplish far more than you could imagine because your Redeemer strengthens you.

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Your Heavenly Father does not look at the gap between yesterday’s skills and tomorrow’s tasks.

He sees only you.

He adores you just the way you are today.

Hallelujah!
