Today is Easter Monday. The day after the grave was found emptied. The day after Jesus rose from the dead.
I can imagine the disciples waking up on this morning over 2,000 years ago, scratching their heads and thinking, “Wow! That was quite a day! Now what?”
Do you think they knew that the story of Jesus’ life, death, and Resurrection would continue to be told and celebrated this long?
Do you think they really had a clue that next morning that Jesus’ Resurrection changed everything both for them and for you?
I wonder.
Today, on this Easter Monday you can face whatever challenge you face with the knowledge and power of the Resurrected King.
Because of the Resurrection, you—with Christ—have power over sin, death, and the power of the devil.
I think that all too often we skip over the “sin”and “the power of the devil part” of that phrase. We know we have eternal life in Christ, but it is easy to forget—in the face of trials and temptations—that Christ’s resurrection changed every part of the enemy’s dominion here on earth.
“For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.” Romans 6:5-7
The Resurrection changed everything!
The answer to the question “Now what?” Might look a little like this:
- We can experience peace in the midst of storms (John 16:33).
- We can choose joy each and every day (James 1:2).
- We can be still and trust God to be God (Psalm 46:10).
