Five years ago, we were fortunate to be able to visit Michelangelo’s carving of David in Florence, Italy. The statue was amazing. Just outside the hall where David stands are several unfinished pieces of Michelangelo. Those statues fascinated me too.
Michelangelo is quoted as saying
“Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.”
An artist must be attentive to the work. I must be present and tuned to the painting I am working on if I am to discover the true essence of the piece and release it for all to see.
Your life is a work of art, created as a partnership with the Lord. You must be fully present to release the true essence of who God created you to be and what He created you to do today.
Michelangelo is also quoted as saying,
“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”
