Monday Mindset

Do you live with the “Rainy Days and Mondays” mindset that approaches Mondays with a bit of the blues? In the song, Karen Carpenter sings about the blues and about having nothing better to do but frown. Then she finds herself with the one she loves and it seems to bring comfort.

Mondays happen. That day when after having a couple of fun or relaxing days you face the reality of life. For most of us that happens on a Monday. For my son, it is Thursday since his “weekend” is Tuesday and Wednesday. I would like to challenge the automatic negative response to and mindset about the Mondays in our lives—whenever they happen.

Monday can be the chance for a fresh start.

Monday can be a reminder to thank God for the work you are doing.

Monday can whisper who you are in Christ.

Consider 1 Peter 2:9

 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

You, Dear One, are one special person. You were created to proclaim the excellent deeds of the One who redeemed you and called you out of darkness in your unique way. You were created for it.

 I suggest that  as God’s own people we make sure our Monday mindset is one of remembering that we are chosen, royal, and holy.

Speak 1 Peter 2:9 out loud over yourself as you prepare for your day and week ahead.

It might just put a bounce in your step!
