Lesson From the Easel: You are Beautiful

  • Deborah

The other day I took this photo of Waves of Light. I I noticed all of the places that needed to be developed, perfected, cleaned up. Although the piece was finished enough during worship that it told its story, in the studio it is obvious what work still needs to be done. In spite of the need for more work, it is loved and beautiful just as it is.

How like the painting we are!

As the master artist, God is always has work to do in us.

There is always more mindful work to do as He shows us even more of our self limiting beliefs. More thoughts to take captive.

There is always more truth to glean and apply from Scripture .

There is always more to do to gain or maintain physical health.

Like this painting, our mind, body, and spirit is in a constant state of being perfected.

Thankfully God is in the business of doing the necessary work in and through you.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Let me be clear here. This work “perfect” does not mean without blemish. It means molding and shaping you to be perfect for the purpose God created you to do. Think “perfectly made or fit for a task or job.”

Meanwhile, like this painting you are beautiful just the way you are. You are beautiful and loved.

The good news of the Gospel is that God doesn’t wait for you to clean yourself up before He pours out His unending love on you. He loves you just the way you are. The apostle Paul told us this in his book to the Romans.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

God loves you right now, in this moment, even as He perfects you for the work He has called you to.

Not only does He love you. He calls you beautiful!

Hallelujah!
