I realize I have been silent for nearly two weeks. My personal life took center stage as my mother and I ministered to her brother as he transitioned to his home in Heaven. That was perhaps the main event of the past month, but it was certainly not the only show in town.
I have been “silent” for nearly two weeks, but in many ways I feel like I have been absent for more than a month. Holy Spirit undergirded me and the work as I more often than not feel like I “phoned it in.”
Today marks a turn around. A new beginning. A fresh start. A fresh anointing.
As I sat with my Bible and the Lord this morning He took me to 1 Timothy and underscored the following words and phrases. I share them with you to encourage you on your journey of identity and purpose.
ENTRUST: God has entrusted your purpose to you, Dear One, and no one else. He needs YOU to continue the work you are doing,
DO NOT NEGLECT: Complacency is not an option what God has given you the gifts you need to fulfill your purpose.
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION: Be aware of your words and actions. Take self-limiting thoughts captive and speak God’s promises over yourself and your work.
PERSEVERE: Keep moving forward in the things the Lord has called you to do. Resist the devil and the temptation to give up. Times may be tough, but put your head down and keep moving your feet forward on your God given path of purpose and destiny.
A key point is that it is not about you. It is about those who the Lord has waiting to hear the message God has entrusted to you. As Paul wrote to Timothy, I write to you:
“Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.”1 Timothy 4:16
I encourage you to keep going in whatever the Lord is calling your to do.
Later this morning I was reminded of Barbra Streisand’s medley “I’m Still Here/Everybody Says Don’t/Don’t Rain On My Parade.” I will be the first to admit that I fell in love with Don’t Rain On My Parade the first time I saw the movie Funny Girl. It is my kind of overcoming theme song. The medley tells a story of perseverance that I find inspiring. Search on Barbra Streisand I’m Still Here and you will find a number of links to the lyrics and videos.
I’m still here I feel like I can confidently say, “I’m back!”
God is faithful to your call and He will bring it to pass…through good times and bum times.
Deborah!
