Hold On

  • Deborah

Then he said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.” But he said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”  Genesis 32:26

Jacob was in a tough spot. He had already split his camp into two so he would not lose his entire family, servants and herd if attacked. When he was left alone, Genesis 32:24 says “A man wrestled with him until daybreak.” He must have been exhausted, not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally.

First his brother is after him and then he has to wrestle with a man that most likely was an angel. In fact, later he named the place “Peniel” which refers to an encounter with God Himself. This was no ordinary man that wrestled with Jacob.

Jacob’s tenacity is noteworthy. He refused to let go until he had received the blessing of God. How often do our circumstances call for that kind of tenacity?

Ecclesiastes 5:3 tells us that the dream comes through much effort. There are times when we must tenaciously wrestle with whatever is in our path in in order to reach the dawn and the blessing.

Hold on, Dear One, the dawn is coming. Keep taking the next right step as the Lord directs. It will lead you to the fulfillment of your dream. Do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). You will reap the reward of what you sow.

Keep making the calls.

Keep writing the blog.

Keep meeting with coaches and mentors.

Keep honing your skills.

Keep doing the work.

The dawn is breaking. Your blessing will arrive.
