Anytime a team takes the field, they need to be ready to not only play the game, but to do whatever it takes to win. The months, weeks, and days of preparation prior to the game are critical for victory.
As we approach the second half of 2022 I ask the question, Are you ready?
The apostle Paul admonished Timothy to always be ready:
I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.2 Timothy 4:1-2 (emphasis mine)
In terms of your identity and purpose let’s consider being ready for what the Lord has for you in the next six months in three areas: mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Mentally: Where is your mind focused?
Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks within himself, so he is..”
Are you mentally prepared for victory?
Emotionally: How is your heart? Stay connected to God’s word so that you will walk the path that is in his will.
Do you put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6: 10-18) regularly (daily) to protect your heart from the evil one?
Are you equipped with the truth of scripture in order to renounce the lies of the enemy and self-limiting beliefs that arise?
Physically: What actions/habits do you have in place to stay alert and prepared?
The apostle Peter tells us why we must do what is necessary to stay alert to the enemy’s scheme,
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
What do your daily practices look like?
Do you have designated time in the Word?
Do you move and/or exercise your body so you will be ready when you are called into the game?
Have you or are you honing your skills to better pursue the big dream you carry?
I suggest that you take some time with pen/paper or your note-taking app and Holy Spirit. Let Him guide you to what things need to be eliminated, continued, or added so that you are ready for victory as the second half of 2022 begins.
