Like flowers that grow between the cracks of rocks or cement, the Lord brings new life to the cracked places of our lives.
That was what inspired this painting and it is why I chose New Life as the painting to represent Created For So Much More Clarity:: Clearing Out Chatter. This is lesson/chapter is all about clearing out the negative voices that threaten to derail our potential as who God created us to be and what He created us to do.
The technique for this 12” x 24” canvas is another textural layering process. First light modeling paste is applied to the canvas and allowed to dry. Then a wash of color brushed on, followed by a layer of tinted gel medium. Only after those three layers are applies do I set up my palette and apply paint.
The abstract nature of the piece allows for me to watch while cracks in the “cement” emerge and I know where to put the bursts of color representing the blossoms.
