Great job! Trust me, the hard part is done. We have been leading up to today and tomorrow this whole journey! Today we spend time looking to Christ and His truth.
Before we go there, let me underscore why this step is so important. Over the past few days you have emptied yourself of unforgiveness and lies of the enemy. I am also quite sure the Lord has shown you so much more! It is what He does when His children take time with Him. My emphasis here is on the word emptied.
Our hearts and spirits are meant to be full houses of God’s truth. Sin and lies take up space in the heart. Space that must be filled with God’s truth once we have rid ourselves of the lies and repented for the sins we have. Jesus spoke of this in the Gospel of Matthew.
“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” Matthew 12:43–45
Another way to think of this is to think about light and darkness. Darkness is dispelled in the light. It cannot co-exist with light. Therefore, if we bring more of God’s truth (light) into the space once occupied by lies or unforgiveness (dark), the darkness has no place to lodge.
Get ready! This is the fun part! It is time to receve and fill up with God’s truth.
I have already hinted at the process for today’s exercise.
Take a look at the stories, beliefs, and lies you have believed. You already know they are from the enemy. What is the opposite of the lie? That is generally God’s truth.
Ask the Lord to show you not only the truth, but to give you scripture to reinforce that truth.
John 14:6 tells us that Jesus is the Way (to our freedom), the Truth (that replaces the lies of the enemy) and the Life (of freedom that He procured with His death and resurrection.) He will guide you.
If specific scriptures do not come to mind in reference to your specific lie, I recommend doing an internet search something on the order of, “What does the Bible say about being safe?” I have found the internet to be a valuable tool to find the perfect scripture to fit any situation.
Sometimes God speaks to me in middle of the search for the “perfect scripture.” Just the other day, I was on my way to one Bible verse, and I found what I was looking for in another place. Be open to Holy Spirit’s leading as you seek to receive the truth God has for you.
God created you for a specific purpose. He gave you exactly what you need to accomplish that purpose. He knows His Word and He knows exactly how to get you to the chapter and verse that aligns with your specific purpose, identity, and need.
Now open your hands to receive all of the truth that He has for you!
