Today, our home starts a process of new beginnings in this month of new beginnings. We are replacing old tile and carpet. It is demolition day. The crew will arrive shortly to begin the jack hammer process of breaking out the tile. It will be a mess. In fact we will vacate for most of the day due to the noise and the dust.
In order to rebuild, you must tear down.
Your spiritual life is much like our home. You must demolish strongholds before you can rebuild new thought patterns and habits to live a transformed life.
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV
Once our tile floor is broken up and destroyed, it must be bagged up and thrown away in order for the next phase of the process to begin. So too, with your thoughts. The apostle Paul goes on to encourage the church at Corinth to take their thoughts captive.
“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
Bag them up and throw them in the garbage!
Do you need a demolition day? Do you need to jack hammer strongholds? Do you need to take your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ?
Pause and allow Holy Spirit to show you the strongholds and thoughts that are keeping you from embracing who God created you to be and what He created you to do.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, let us be about the business of recognizing thoughts that speculate that we are not worthy of God’s love, that we are not who He says we are, or that we are not called to the work He created us to do.
Schedule a demolition day with Holy Spirit and watch Him clean house. With a clean house, He can begin the rebuilding process.
Hallelujah!
