You are the steward of your body, mind, and spirit.
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.”Psalm 24:1
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have fromGod, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
You are the Lord’s and He abides in you, therefore it is your responsibility to steward your health.
What does it mean to steward your health? According to Oxford Languages online verb steward means “to manage or look after (another’s property).”
Anything you do or don’t do for your personal health—mentally, spiritually, or physically—is an act of stewardship to the Lord.
Your physical and mental health are as much a spiritual practice as attending worship, studying the Bible, praying, etc.
I would suggest that we cannot separate how we treat our bodies and our minds from our spiritual health.
Here are a few health practices to consider implementing this week:
-Breath Prayer: Practice few minutes every few hours
Breathe in the Presence of God: “Our Father who is as close to me as my breath.”
Breathe out any distractions: “I release anxiety and worry about what is coming up in my day.”
–Look up: Just the act of looking up calms the nervous system and activates the rest and relax response.
“I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?” Psalm 121:1
–Smile: Smiling reduces stress, increases your confidence, strengthens your immune system, and so much more.
–Giggle and laugh: Your mood matters
“A joyful heart is good medicine,
But a broken spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
My prayer through these health focused newsletters matches the prayer that the apostle John wrote:
“Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 2
I pray that you thrive in good health as you embrace who God created you to be and do what He created you to do.
