A Season for Everything

  • Deborah

Change is coming. I have known for months that this time would come. As the speaking season of 2023 comes to a close, it is time for me to sit with the Lord and discover His next steps for the ministry. What about you?

The month of June is a great time to evaluate the past six months and look ahead to plan for the next six. King Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8  that there is a season for everything. In fact the NASB version of the verse uses the term “appointed time” rather than season.

“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1

I personally love the translation “appointed time” because it is more specific. The passage goes on to give specific “times” in our lives. The phrases and verses that are particularly relevant as you look backwards and forwards at the midyear time are.

Verse 2: A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.

Verse 3: A time to tear down and a time to build up.

Verse 6: A time to keep and a time to throw away.

Verse 7: A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;
A time to be silent and a time to speak.

This is a great time of year to adjust.

What tasks and habits are you to implement?

Are you in a planting season or a “clean out the garden season?”

Are there strongholds in your life that need to be torn down?

Are you holding on to a habit or tradition that need to be thrown away?

Do areas of your life need to be torn apart so that you can sew a better life together?

Sit with the Lord.

Be silent before Him and listen to what He has to say.

He will guide you to your next right steps and the strategy that He has for finishing this year well.
