I was doing an art show in Kansas City in 2012 when I received a call from my niece Sara. She was driving home after having met with Dr. Lori Buzzetti and being asked to serve on the first So Big Ministry Board of Directors. Months later, when the Lord gave me a prophetic word for So Big, Sara knew it was for Lori. That was the beginning of my relationship with Dr. Buzzetti. Since then the Lord has forged a bond that has gone far beyond friendship. As a part of my Ministry Mastermind Group, Lori is an important prayer partner, encourager, and sounding board as well as a source of revelation and ideas. As a part of the Created For So Much More team, “Dr. B” has been one of the first people to lead a group through the CFSMM book study.
Lori Buzzetti is an example of God’s equipping and call not always falling along family lines. She knew as a child that she wanted to be a physician even though no one in her family was from the medical field. She went directly from college to medical school and residency as an OBGYN. Her medical experience moved her from private practice to a teaching role in a residency program, to being the director for a women’s health clinic. It was at the women’s health clinic that she heard the Lord’s whisper when He asked her to begin what would ultimately become the ministry So Big and So Big’s Mountain House Maternity Home.
In 2008 God laid out a picture of a home “where a woman with an unexpected pregnancy could find shelter, food, and most of all love.” It took ten years of taking the next right steps before So Big’s Mountain House became a reality. Today So Big offers shelter and other basic necessities for up to four homeless pregnant women and their babies.
Bringing a big audacious dream like a maternity home to life involves so much more than one could imagine. Determined to start small in order to see and experience the bigness of God, Lori and husband Tony took one step at a time as the Lord led them. They made personal decisions and sacrifices that gave “Dr. B” the freedom of schedule and financial freedom. Freed from the demands of a work schedule, Dr. Buzzetti was able to dedicate her focus and time to the work that the Lord was calling her to. Currently she oversees the So Big Board of Directors, the operations of So Big and the Mountain House.
Lori’s passion is “to provide women with opportunity and education which allows them to choose life for their babies.” That passion has developed into so much more as So Big also provides a safe environment and the education to live a healthy lifestyle “which enables residents and staff to pursue their God-given purpose.” As a passionate Child of God, wife, mother and OBGYN, it makes sense that another of Lori’s passions is to encourage women to engage in experiences that bring them closer to the Lord.
It is that desire to assist others in deepening their relationship with God that drove “Dr. B” to lead a Created For So Much More study with the staff of the Mountain House.. According to Lori, the group is going great. “I love seeing the excitement as the women in my group talk about the revelations from God. They are drawing closer to God and to others in their lives.”
Lori’s personal favorite experience in reading Created For So Much More is the intimacy she feels with Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit as she sits with Them to work through the exercises in the book. One of her most recent testimonies from the book is that she has replaced the lie, “I am not enough” with the truth, “I am overflowing in Christ.”
Lori’s Favorite Scripture has been a mainstay in her life.
Proverbs 3:5–6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Lori’s Words to Live By:
