Best Business Practices: Follow Through Friday

calendar

For many people, Friday is the last day in the work week. If you are one of those whose “weekend” is Tuesday/Wednesday or Sunday/Monday for our purposes here, think about the last day of your work week. Best business (and personal) practices suggest that you check your list of commitments made for the week and take the day to make sure you follow through to accomplish them before your work week is complete.

It is especially important to follow up with people. If you told someone you would get back to them, do it today. Write the email. Make the call. Finish the proposal and send it.

Follow up often falls under the Created For So Much More strategy of doing the work. The tasks that may need to be done aren’t always the most exciting or even rewarding, but they are important if you are to remain faithful to your purpose.

In the spirit realm diligently pursuing  follow up and follow through is part of the Spiritual fruit of faithfulness. When Jesus told of the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14–30), He used the phrase, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

The servants took the talents, followed through and did something with what they were given.

Whether your last day of the work week is Friday or another day, designate it as a day to be faithful to your call and purpose. Follow through with your commitments and do the work.

I can already hear Heaven saying, “Good job! Well done good and faithful servant!”
