Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, Ephesians 2:20
I have been working overtime at the easel these past few weeks. I have sat at the Lord’s feet with paint and palette knife in hand asking for Holy Spirit to direct my strokes. As I worked, He told me that He has lessons to share with you. Lessons about life that I have learned as I paint. Lessons from the easel. The first is to expect the unexpected.
Suddenly, in the middle of blocking out the images for a painting, there have been several times when water appears. Such was the case with the painting you see here. I didn’t expect it, but there it was.
God brings the unexpected into our lives all the time. We might realize how precious life is when there is a life-changing diagnosis. Maybe we feel the rug being pulled out from under us when we receive news of our place of employment closing.
Certainly there are unexpected times we struggle to see the “far more abundantly” Paul writes about in Ephesians 3:20. Yet, there in the midst of unexpected life issues, we experience God in ways we have never before encountered.
After my family went through the sudden loss of a job when my husband’s office closed, we experienced God’s miraculous provision in ways we could not have thought to ask for. We saw the “far more abundantly” of God.
I have said it before and I will say it again, there is always so much more for you because there is so much more of God. When you face the unexpected in your life, whether it is an unexpected blessing or challenge, look for the “far more abundantly” of God. He is there waiting for you to seek and find Him.
Living life dedicated to the Lord will take you on an adventure of ups and downs, twists and turns. Expect the unexpected and then look to the Lord to flex His muscles and provide far more abundantly than you could ask or think.
