Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

Don’t sweat the small stuff seems polar opposite to yesterday’s post about God  being in the details. I want you to align your details with God’s plan for the full  and amazing future that He has for you. At the same time, I am recommending that  you don’t sweat the small stuff.

According to  author Richard Carlson who wrote the book on the subject, it’s all small stuff. In fact the full title of the book: is Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff and It’s All Small Stuff.

How do you care about the details without sweating the small stuff? The key is the word “sweat”—as in work so hard you are sweating. Sweating the small stuff includes worry and anxiety. As Jesus Followers we are concerned about details, but trust the Lord to provide what we need when we need it. We are not to spend time worrying.

“‘Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?’” Matthew 6:26

How do you concern yourself with the details, but not worry about them? Trust that God will show you how to put the details of the puzzle pieces of your life together to fit His perfect plan and purpose.

May we be like the birds of the air. Do not let worry keep you grounded. Do not let the small stuff keep you shackled to the ground.  Give your concerns to the Lord.

As Jesus says a few verses later, “For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.” (Matthew 6:32)

God knows your every need. He knows the details you need to soar with Him. Let Him take care of the small stuff that encumbers you. Give your worries to Him.

You will be soaring in no time.

  1. Just as Elijah didn’t question God or sweat the small stuff when he told the king there would be no rain or even dew for 3 yrs. OR the woman When Elijah showed up asking for food. She only had enough flour and oil to make a small loaf. She didn’t sweat about whether she and her child would have enough to eat the next day. Her faith sustained her!@
