As in Heaven

  • Deborah

Previously I have written about the Kingdom of God that Jesus ushered in (read the post here) and how we—like Jesus—can pray specifically for the impossible (read the post here).  Today I want to home in on what happens when we ask for the miracle and then share why we have the right to ask.

“Your kingdom come.

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10

I would suggest that the phrase “on earth as it is in heaven” ties this verse—and the two previous posts—together.

Think about Heaven for a moment. What do we know about Heaven? There is no sickness. There is no strife. There is no anxiety, depression, or infirmities of any kind. There is no sin.

When you pray—when you ask God for a miracle—you  pull the kingdom of Heaven into the earthly realm.

When you ask God for the impossible you join with the angel in the book of Revelation.

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.”

Revelation 11:15

Asking for what seems is impossible  is exactly what we are called to do. We are called to ask Heaven to touch Earth.

God has given us the authority to call Heaven to Earth.

We see this when Jesus gave His disciples this kind of authority.

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Luke 10:19

Jesus spoke of this authority in this way.

Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.

“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.  Matthew 18:18–19

When you pray Heaven into the Earth, you bind the forces of darkness and you loose God’s Spirit into the situation. For example, when you pray for healing, you bind the spirit of infirmity and loose the spirit of wholeness and healing—the spirit of Jehovah Rapha: the Lord who heals.

The spirit of God abides in you (John 15:4). That is the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11).

Jesus conquered sin, death, and the power of the devil when He rose from the dead. Through His death and resurrection you carry His authority to call Heaven into the Earth.

These three petitions when put together are powerful indeed.

What is it you have need of? What aspect of Heaven do you need pulled into your situation today?

Go ahead and ask for the impossible. Call Heaven to Earth. Bind the forces of darkness and loose God’s power, light, life, and blessing.

You have the authority through Christ.
