God provides enough. When the Children of Israel were in the wilderness He provided quail in tthe evening and manna in the morning. He instructed the people to collect only what they needed for the day.
“I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’” Exodus 16:12
God responded to grumblings with provision! I am amazed at the graciousness of God who provided for His children even when they were complaining. It was enough for every person.
When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat, Exodus 16:18
The story goes on to say that those who tried to gather more than they could eat found the manna foul and filled with worms the next day. EXCEPT on the Sabbath when God allowed the people to gather two days worth of food and it was preserved. The manna lasted long enough.
Enough.
Just enough.
No excess and no lack.
What food of the Spirit do you need today?
When we pray the Lord’s prayer we ask for daily bread. Jesus is the Bread of Life. Like the Children of Israel we can look for fresh manna from Jesus every day, Whatever you have need of, God will provide. Each and every day.
Years ago I heard a grieving father say, “I know God’s mercies are new every morning. I’m sure glad, because I used them all up yesterday.” He had leaned on the Lord so completely the day before, he wondered how there could be more comfort, hope, and love. There always was.
God’s provision is enough. No matter how much you used yesterday.
Lamentations puts it this way:
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 2:22-23
Whatever you need from God today, He waits to provide for you.
Draw near to Him. Align your heart with His.
ASK.
Trust it is enough for today.
