Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions. Proverbs 4:25 TPT

This week I will be studying and looking at what the word focus has to do with identity, purpose, and your walk with Christ.. Focus is not a word we think of as extremely spiritual. I dare say you might not even find the word in any of the more traditional translations of the Bible. Yet, that five letter word has much to say about how you live your life on a day-to-day basis.

There are several definitions of focus. It can be a noun or a verb. Today I want to consider the definition that says that focus is to concentrate attention or effort.

According to Merriam-Webster.com the Latin word “focus” meant “hearth, fireplace.” It refers to the point at which the rays of a sun converge through a magnifying glass to produce enough heat to ignite paper.

What does that have to do with a life lived with focus? Consider how the rays of the sun converge to one spot. Think about what your life of purpose would look like if you were able to dedicate your energy to a singular purpose—what God created you to do.

Know your purpose.

Ignore distractions. Silence voices that say you are not enough.

Walk into your destiny with focus and watch the Lord ignite your passion and spread the fire of your message.
